Body, word, power

The fourth edition of Magfest entitled "Body word power" is the final moment of “Presentosa – theatre project around the female body”, conceived and directed by the theatre director Annamaria Talone, selected and funded by the call for tender “Projects for youth” of the Regione Abruzzo following the collaboration agreement with the Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri – Dipartimento della Gioventù for the programming of a funding quota of the Fondo Politiche Giovanili, (art. 19, c. 2 del Decreto-Legge 4 luglio 2006, n. 223, esercizio 2010).

Why Presentosa?

Presentosa is a “traditional” piece of female jewellery and its meaning comes from “present – gift” or female “conceit”. The jewel, although very ancient, has remained a lively symbol of the customs from Abruzzo and refers to the idea of dignity and beauty represented by women dressed in their Sunday best. Beside supporting the general aim of the  project Presentosa, being the promotion of a “positive” view of the female body and consequently of a non-discriminating culture among young generations, the festival specifically aims at stimulating the artistic growth of young people from Abruzzo through exchanges on an international level. (For further information on the project Presentosa see www.mag-lab.org)

The theme of the festival in Abruzzo focuses on the triad body – word – power and investigates its interferences in the female dimension. Our desire is to experience, through theatre, the possibilities for a balance among the elements body – word – power: the body acquires power in terms of presence, the word becomes body through the voice, and the word acquires power in the intent of the author.
